Larry was born and raised in the Houston Area and graduated High School not far from First Baptist Church North Houston. Larry has served as Pastor of three churches in Texas before coming to FBCNH in April of 2001. Larry and his wife Kay have been married for 37 years and have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren.
“I have seen this area grow in many different ways since I was a boy here on the north side of Houston back in the 60’s . In spite of the many areas of change that the “North-side” has experienced, there is still a quality of “sameness” that remains. People still have a need to experience the true Fellowship that can only be felt among believers. People still need to know that there are others who care about them. That is our goal here at First Baptist Church North Houston. Many other churches have moved away from the area because the ‘transition’ of the neighborhood did not appeal to their philosophy of ministry. Our Philosophy of ministry is this: “Our God is long-suffering and is not willing that any should perish, but that all might come to the knowledge of repentance.” Some have closed their doors, or moved away; however, we have chosen to focus upon the fact that FBCNH does not belong to US – rather, we who are the Church belong to Jesus. As such we will serve Him in this place.”
“As Pastor of FBCNH , I have experienced the floods of Allison, 9/11, Hurricanes Rita and Ike, and many other challenges alongside the members of our church. Our greatest challenges are before us as we seek to win our area for Christ and to make disciples that are focused upon Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.”
Jon Taylor is a gifted musician who not only leads the Worship Services at FBCNH, he is also a published songwriter who consistently blesses us with his music. Jon has been the Minister of Music at FBCNH since May of 2005.
